Vestiges of elegance,
Immortalized in sepia tones
Of yesteryear’s grandeur.
Imposing presence of stately homes.
Within the higher echelons of power
As diminishing;  they stand alone…
Remnants of a broken hierarchy,
Pursuing each lost cause
As in their closing ranks,
While exposed to the flaws
In a crumbling façade
Masking archaic laws…
