DISENCHANTMENT
This commentary is focused on the process of disenchantment. Not only is this a crucial stage in becoming self-realized – it is often a precursor to enlightenment. What does need to be understood and acknowledged is the necessity for shedding any residues of a false persona, and eliminating whatever is superfluous to requirements along the way. On a more subtle level, old and outmoded habits keep us stuck in negative patterns of reactive behaviour. In order to initiate change and be free of this addictive dynamic, we need to address the issues by a process of elimination.
Astrologically, the Virgoan and Scorpionic qualities are employed in order to bring discernment and discrimination to the table. In ascertaining what to let go of, we gradually work towards wholeness and therefore healing. In allowing ones self to be ‘disenchanted’, we are prepared to relinquish our illusions or ‘enchantments’ and no longer be in thrall to the enticements that are outside of the self – and so projected onto others. The latter is personally disempowering and inevitably affects our sense of autonomy, which is fundamental to the mastery of the self.
In astrological terms, this process of disenchantment lies within the domain of Neptune. In this nebulous world of the emotions, we are challenged to work with the 4th Soul Ray of seeking Harmony through Conflict. It is an integral part of this cosmic law that we free ourselves from attachments, and are therefore able to ‘cut the ties that bind.’ What does need to be taken into account is that no part of us can act in isolation. This must be viewed from a ‘fractal’ perspective; whereas any change in one dimension of being will affect the whole – as it is the ‘sum of the parts’. This represents the movement towards true synthesis.
So be it.
